Pretzels

Pretzels

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 packet dry yeast
  • 1 ½ cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 5 cups flour
  • Coarse salt
  • Egg white

UTENSILS:

  • Large & small bowls
  • Wooden spoon
  • Fork

HOW TO:

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  • Empty yeast packet into a large bowl and add warm water. Stir until yeast dissolves (about 3 minutes).
  • Add sugar and salt.
  • Stir in flour, one cup at a time (you may need only 4 or 4 ½ cups of the flour). Add and stir until the mixture resembles soft pizza dough.
  • Coat your hands with flour to keep the dough from sticking to them. Divide the dough into about 20 golf-ball-sized pieces. Roll each ball into a 10” snake and twist into the shape you want.
  • In the small bowl, beat egg white with a fork until foamy. Use your fingers to coat the top of each pretzel with egg white.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until pretzels are golden brown.
  • Sprinkle coarse salt on top of each pretzel.
