INGREDIENTS:
- 1 packet dry yeast
- 1 ½ cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 5 cups flour
- Coarse salt
- Egg white
UTENSILS:
- Large & small bowls
- Wooden spoon
- Fork
HOW TO:
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
- Empty yeast packet into a large bowl and add warm water. Stir until yeast dissolves (about 3 minutes).
- Add sugar and salt.
- Stir in flour, one cup at a time (you may need only 4 or 4 ½ cups of the flour). Add and stir until the mixture resembles soft pizza dough.
- Coat your hands with flour to keep the dough from sticking to them. Divide the dough into about 20 golf-ball-sized pieces. Roll each ball into a 10” snake and twist into the shape you want.
- In the small bowl, beat egg white with a fork until foamy. Use your fingers to coat the top of each pretzel with egg white.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until pretzels are golden brown.
- Sprinkle coarse salt on top of each pretzel.
